Pequod's pizza was born in 1971 out of a simple but powerful belief: great pizza deserves great ingredients and the time to do it right. Founded in the heart of Chicago, our restaurant quickly became a neighborhood staple, drawing in locals and visitors alike with the unmistakable aroma of caramelized cheese and fresh-baked crust.

1971

The Birth of a Legend

Pequod's pizza opens its doors on the North Side of Chicago. Founder Burt Katz introduces his signature caramelized crust deep dish, unlike anything the city had tasted before.

1979

The Secret Recipe Perfected

After years of refinement, the iconic Pequod's deep dish recipe is finalized. The caramelized cheese crust becomes the restaurant's signature and a Chicago institution in its own right.

1986

New Home on Clybourn Ave

Pequod's pizza moves to its now-famous location at 2207 N Clybourn Ave, Chicago. The new space grows to accommodate the ever-increasing demand for our beloved pequods pizza.

1995

National Recognition
